Legal Update & VHRA Annual Meeting
The past legislative session included some new employment laws, and recent federal regulatory shifts mean big changes for Vermont workplaces. In this session, employment attorneys Alexandra Clauss and Heather Wright will be joined by Steven McKinney from the U.S. Department of Labor to provide an update on these developments and participants will learn:

About our Speakers
Steven McKinney is the Community Outreach and Resource Planning Specialist for the Northern New England District Office of the United States Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division. Steven began his career at Wage and Hour in 2010 as an investigator, obtaining direct experience enforcing the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and other Federal labor laws. Prior to Wage and Hour, Steven worked as an attorney for the Law Offices of Ferris & Ferris in Chesterfield, Virginia. In his current Community Outreach role, Steven McKinney enjoys being able to proactively aid employers to help them understand how to comply with Federal labor laws.
Alexandra Clauss is an attorney and shareholder with Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer PC in Burlington. Her practice is devoted to advising employers on a wide range of human resources issues and employment law compliance. She is a frequent speaker on HR topics, and she conducts workplace trainings, employee handbook reviews, and internal investigations. Ms. Clauss received her Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and her J.D. from Tulane University Law School. She is admitted to practice in VT, NH and CA. Ms. Clauss has been selected as a Super Lawyers® Rising Star® in Employment & Labor each year since 2014.
Heather Wright is a labor and employment attorney with WrightJones, helping businesses make legal decisions in alignment with their individual organizational values. Prior to becoming an attorney, Heather spent over a decade working as an HR professional. Heather teaches Strategic HR Management in the MBA in Sustainability program at Marlboro College.
